10 Ways to Practice Self-Love


Self-Care is a term that gets thrown around a lot. You hear it at the gym, you hear it at the grocery store, all over social media, and yes, you hear it at the salon. But what does Self-Care really mean? Here are 10 ways we discovered to show yourself some care:


  • Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment without judgment. Meditation, deep breathing exercises, and yoga are all great ways to practice mindfulness (1).


  • Get Enough Sleep: Good sleep is crucial for your physical and mental health. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night, and establish a relaxing bedtime routine to help you wind down.


Top 10 Ways to Take Care Of Yourself

• Exercise Regularly:   Exercise is a great way to improve your physical and mental health. Try to incorporate some form of physical activity into your daily routine, even if it's just a short walk or a few minutes of stretching.



• Eat a Balanced Diet: Eating a balanced diet is essential for maintaining good health. Try to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats.



• Spend Time in Nature: Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and boost overall well-being. Try to spend some time outdoors every day, even if it's just a few minutes.

 

  • Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water is essential for maintaining good

health. Aim to drink at least 8 cups of water per day (2) and more if you're

active or in a hot climate.


  • Connect with Friends and Family: Social connections are essential for our mental health and

well-being. Make time to connect with friends and family, even if it's just a

quick phone call or text message.

• Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself and practice self-compassion. Acknowledge your successes and challenges, and treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer a good friend.


• Pursue Hobbies and Interests: Engaging in activities you enjoy is a great way to reduce stress and boost your mood. Whether it's reading, painting, or playing a musical instrument, make time for hobbies and interests that bring you joy.


• Seek Support When Needed: If you're struggling with your mental health or facing a difficult situation, don't hesitate to seek support from a mental health professional (3), support group, or trusted friend or family member. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.
