Have you ever stopped to think about what sort of statement hair color can make? Whether you’re in the mood to make a big, bold statement, or simply want a subtle change to the color of your hair, if you’re looking to for a professional place to change up your hair color in Utah County — from Lehi to Alpine to American Fork to Highland and beyond — we can help make that happen. But if this is your first time coloring your hair, we wanted to share a few tips with you before you book your appointment.
How do you select the best color?
At the end of the day, choosing a new hair color is a personal decision, and the only person’s opinion that matters is your own. But there are some general guidelines to consider, like your skin tone and eye color. You want to choose a shade that complements or contrasts your natural pigmentation, rather than something that may, for example, draw attention to any skin imperfections. If you’re unsure about a certain hue, our hair color experts are more than happy to offer recommendations during your consultation to help you make a choice that you’ll love.
What’s trendy right now?
Various shades of red are going to be big in 2020. Whether it’s strawberry blonde or a more vibrant red velvet, celebrities like Lana Del Rey and Rachel McAdams are helping to bring these color cousins to the forefront of hair color trends. As a stark contrast to the fiery reds, we’re seeing smokey ice begin to take center stage. The ashy silver-meets-black look has been spotted on icons such as Jourdan Dunn and Dilone.
What is the process?
You’ll start with a hair color consultation. One of our professional hair stylists in Lehi, Utah will help you choose the perfect color based on what you’re looking for and their expert hair coloring advice. Once you decide, we’ll begin the process of transforming your look. The steps needed will vary depending on the color you choose and your hair type, but one thing is certain: You will leave our salon feeling like an entirely new person.
How do you take care of color-treated hair?
First and foremost, it’s advised to wait 72 hours before you first wash your hair. You really want to give the color time to take root, so to speak. When you do wash, be sure to use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, and lower the water temperature. But don’t wash it every single day; for off days, switch to dry shampoo to keep your look fresh. We have some excellent products in our salon that will help your color stay beautiful.
How long does hair color last?
You can expect your color to last anywhere from 4–6 weeks. Generally, permanent hair color will stay on the hair until it grows out but between 4 and 6 weeks, or 28 washes, your original color can start to fade. That means you’ll want to get back in the salon for a touch up.
